Laura Hermosa (Laura Dizon Laforteza Hermosa) is a radio, television, and film actor. She was born in Dagupan, Pangasinan on 9 May 1928. She is the daughter of Elidio Laforteza and Juliana Dizon. She is married to Fernando Hermosa, with whom she has six children, including comedian Tessie Tomas. She studied at Arellano High School in Santa Cruz, Manila, where literary and radio drama writer Genoveva Edroza was her class adviser.

Hermosa was 22 when she began her radio drama acting career at DZBB in 1950. She then moved to DZBC to star in the radio drama Digmaan ng Damdamin (War of Emotions), working with director Artemio Marquez and fellow voice talents Ernesto Ramos, Luz Fernandez, Romy Reyes, and Esther Chavez. In the late 1950s, she acted in Aklat ng Pag-ibig (Book of Love), a radio drama on DZRH written by Edroza. Hermosa voiced various characters from male to female and from a child to a grandmother. She also voiced the witch Buruka of the popular drama Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang (Stories of Grandma Basyang). Her colleagues called her the woman with a hundred voices.

In the early 1960s she and her family moved to her husband’s hometown in Catbalogan, Samar, where she worked as a grammar teacher. They returned to Manila after a few years and Hermosa resumed her radio career in DZXL where she was part of the cast of Eddie Ilarde’s Kahapon Lamang (Just Yesterday). Apart from drama, Hermosa voiced numerous commercials in Tagalog as well as WarayCebuanoIlonggo, and Bicolano. As she often took her kids to work, daughter Tessie became a voice talent at age 9, and at age 14 she became a model for Palmolive soap ads along with her mother.

In the 1970s, Hermosa moved to DWWW where she worked with Kuya Cesar, Rod Navarro, Vic Morales, Tina Loy, and Inday Badiday. Here she started directing drama programs, including Teenage Diary. At the same time, she began appearing in the television programs Buhay Artista (Actor’s Life), Nida-Nestor ShowJohn en Marsha (John and Marsha), and Hapi House (Happy House). She also acted in films, like Relasyon (An Affair) and Broken Marriage.
